Stormwater Management
More and more cities are implementing fee-supported stormwater management utility programs and Carolina Public Relations is the leader in helping cities and counties build public support for these new services. Clients include the cities of Lexington, Ky., Greenville, S.C., Charlotte, N.C., Wilson, N.C., Columbia, S.C., and Florence, S.C.

Additionally, the firm has provided counsel to engineering firms providing professional services to city and county governments, including Hayes, Seay, Mattern & Mattern; Black & Veatch, HDR Engineering, CDM Engineering, Amec Engineering & Environmental Services, Jewell Engineering, and McKim & Creed Engineers.

Recycling
Carolina Public Relations has long been active in the recycling industry, providing numerous services to city and county governments, recycling associations, metal manufacturers, and others in the industry.

Firm employees have introduced new recycling programs in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, N.C., Greenville County, S.C., High Point, N.C., and Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base; and have promoted recycling programs for Alcoa, the National Recycling Coalition, the North Carolina Recycling Association, South Carolina Clean and Beautiful, Inc., Aluminum Cans for Burned Children, and the National Glass Packaging Institute.

Water and Sewer/Waste Water Treatment
Municipal public works departments face numerous challenges when siting public works facilities, expanding capacity and conducting major repairs and system upgrades. Employees of Carolina Public Relations have developed communications plans to educate the public on the need for such projects, the timetables, traffic system changes, service changes, and costs. Customers have included Union County, N.C., Public Works, Utilities, Inc. of Northbrook, Ill., and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities.

Solid Waste Management
Carolina Public Relations has helped several jurisdictions site landfills and waste incinerators, implement new service plans, and communicate changes in waste collection and disposal programs. Clients have included Browning Ferris Industries, one of the country's largest waste management firms, and Greenville County, S.C., and Mecklenburg County, N.C.
