Carolina PR Puts Spotlight on Souls of Our Teachers Documentary

Carolina PR was chosen to partner with four community organizations to unveil Souls of Our Teachers, a documentary film examining the first-hand experiences, challenges and insights of public school teachers across the Charlotte area.

Mecklenburg Ministries, Temple Beth El, Communities in Schools and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) collaborated on the documentary. The documentary was developed as a recruitment tool to attract effective teachers to the most challenging schools. It also will inform parents and the community about the need for active involvement and support for public education and encourage volunteerism in public schools.

The powerful half-hour film premiered on May 27 to a full house at ImaginOn.  Nearly 200 people attended the viewing of the film and panel discussion which was kicked off by CMS Superintendent Dr. Peter Gorman.

“Carolina PR’s insight and expertise about the publicity plan was instrumental in the introduction of Souls of Our Teachers," said Dr. Maria Hanlin, Executive Director of Mecklenburg Ministries. "We are completely blown away and thankful for all the media attention the film received.”

Carolina PR developed the media materials and managed the news media outreach for the film premiere.  The documentary and event were featured in numerous news articles and stories in key Charlotte-area media outlets, including The Charlotte Observer, Carolina Weekly Newspapers, The Charlotte Post, WSOC-TV, WAXN-TV, News 14 and WFAE-FM and more.

In August, the documentary on DVD along with a facilitator’s guide will be made available to businesses, faith communities, PTAs, community associations and civic organizations.
